WJEC Free Digital Resources

WJEC is an organisation providing assessment, training and educational resources in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and elsewhere.

It provides a range of resources which can be used effectively as stand-alone lessons or incorporated into a larger scheme of work These free digital resources support the teaching and learning of subjects offered by WJEC.

Encyclopedia of Concise Concepts by Women Philosophers

The Center for the History of Women Philosophers and Scientists has developed a new site, the Encyclopedia of Concise Concepts by Women Philosophers, a joint project of Paderborn University’s Ruth Hagengruber and Cleveland State’s Mary Ellen Waithe.

This resource aims to introduce “women philosophers who mostly have been omitted from the philosophical canon despite their historical and philosophical influence.” The site has four main sections: Concepts, Keywords, Philosophers, and Contributors.

World Oceans Day takes place every 8 June. It has been celebrated unofficially since its original proposal in 1992 by Canada's International Centre for Ocean Development (ICOD) and the Ocean Institute of Canada (OIC) at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The conservation action theme for World Oceans Day 2018 has been "Preventing plastic pollution and encouraging solutions for a healthy ocean".

The World Cup a Fair Game?

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be the 21st FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place in Russia from 14 June to 15 July 2018.

The World Cup a Fair Game? is a cross-curricular resource for 9-14 year old users developed by Oxfam Education to engage learners critically with issues of fairness and equality.

First held in 1974, World Environment Day (WED) occurs on the 5th of June every year. WED is the UN's most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. It is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.

Each World Environment Day is organized around a theme that focuses attention on a particularly pressing environmental concern. The theme for 2018 is beating plastic pollution. #BeatPlasticPollution.

World Digital Library

The World Digital Library (WDL) is a project of the U.S. Library of Congress, carried out with the support of the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (UNESCO), and in cooperation with libraries, archives, museums, educational institutions, and international organizations from around the world.

The WDL makes available on the Internet, free of charge and in multilingual format, significant primary materials from all countries and cultures.
