The
Academy Awards, or Oscars, is an annual awards ceremony hosted by the
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to recognize excellence
in cinematic achievements in filmaking from the previous year. The
first Academy Awards were distributed in 1929. The last one (the
88th ceremony) was held recently, on February 28.
