The USGS was created in 1879. It is the sole science
agency for the US Department of the Interior.
The USGS provides
science about the natural hazards, the water, energy, minerals, the
health of our ecosystems and environment, and the impacts of climate
and land-use change.
It also provides educational resources (for Primary,
Secundary and Undergraduate Education) and useful information about
the Earth and its processes.
