Canadian Pride Historical Society, Educational Resources

The Canadian Pride Historical Society (CPHS) offers a robust collection of free educational resources designed for K–12 educators who want to bring LGBTQ+ history and perspectives into their classrooms. These resources aim to help students understand the historical struggles, achievements, and resilience of Pride communities in Canada. Through thoughtfully designed lesson plans, multimedia content, and activities, teachers can spark meaningful conversations around identity, equity, and social change, all while meeting curriculum outcomes.

From lessons on the history of Pride flags and drag culture to explorations of events like the Stonewall Riots and the Toronto bathhouse raids, CPHS resources cover a wide range of topics in an age-appropriate and inclusive manner. The materials are organized by grade level and theme, making it easy for teachers to find content that fits their students' needs and learning goals. These lessons are rooted in real stories and lived experiences, encouraging empathy, critical thinking, and historical awareness.

One Institute. LGBTQ+ History lesson plans

One Institute has collaborated with the UCLA History-Geography Project, OUT for Safe Schools at LA LGBT Center, and ONE Archives at the USC Libraries to organize K-12 curriculum symposiums and offer LGBTQ+ history lesson plans to educators free of charge.

These lesson plans align with California’s FAIR Education Act and History-Social Science Framework, mandating that K-12 schools in California include fair, accurate, inclusive, and respectful representations of LGBTQ+ communities in their social studies and history curricula.

European Commission Actions for LGBTIQ equality

Many LGBTIQ people in the EU don't feel safe being open about their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sex characteristics. They often feel threatened and are at risk of poverty and social exclusion. Many also don't feel safe reporting verbal abuse and physical violence to the police.

LGBTIQ people in the EU face discrimination, hatred, and harassment every day. This can harm their physical, mental, and emotional health. We need to work to protect their rights and safety.

On this website, you can find actions for LGBTIQ equality undertaken by the European Commission
