Keep It Real Online. Helping Young People Stay Safe in a Digital World

In today’s hyperconnected world, young people spend a large part of their lives online — learning, socialising, playing, and exploring. The internet offers endless opportunities, but it also comes with risks that can affect their wellbeing. From online grooming and cyberbullying to exposure to pornography or unwanted messages, the digital space can be both empowering and challenging. That’s where Keep It Real Online, an initiative by the New Zealand Government, comes in.

Keep It Real Online provides practical advice, real stories, and step-by-step guidance to help children, teenagers, parents, and educators navigate the online world safely. Rather than simply warning about dangers, the campaign focuses on honest conversations, education, and early prevention — recognising that the key to digital safety lies in open communication and trust.

The Open Library is a collection of more than one million free ebook titles. The collection is cataloged by a community ov volunteer online librarians. 

The ebooks in the Open Library can be read online, downloaded to your computer, read on Kindle and other ereader devices and embedded into other sites. Some of the ebooks can also be listened to.

TitanPad. Free tool for collaborative writing

TitanPad is a free and simple to use Web 2.0 tool that lets a group of people (up to 8 authors) come together to easily create and edit documents. It does not require a user account.

You can import other text documents into your pad and they can be downloaded as PDF, DOC, HTML or text.

TitanPad has many possibilities for classroom use. For example, it allows teachers to create their own working space. Students can access the document at the same time or individually at any time. In this case, each person, who is color-coded, can see the changes that others are making.

Analyze My Writing is an online text content and readability analyzer. Copy and paste a text into the homepage and it will generate information about your writing:

- word, sentence, and character count
- word and sentence lengths
- readability scores based on several measures
- customizable graphs for Fry and Raygor readability measures
- punctuation marks
- most frequently used words (with word cloud)
-most common word pairs.

This is a very easy to use tool as there is no registration and analysis of your text is completely free. You may analyze as many texts as you like, and the texts you analyze can be as long as your browser and system can handle.
