How Did Valentine’s Day Start?
Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is celebrated annually on February 14.
Valentine's Day customs – sending greeting cards, offering confectionary and presenting flowers – developed in early modern England and spread throughout the English-speaking world in the 19th century. In the later 20th and early 21st centuries, these customs spread to other countries (source Wikipedia) but how did Valentine’s Day start?

Saint Valentine’s Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14 by
many people throughout the world. In the English-speaking countries,
it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each
other by sending Valentine’s cards, presenting flowers, or offering
confectionery. The holiday is named after two among the numerous
Early Christian martyrs named Valentine.

St. Valentine's Day... again
Each year on February 14th
many people around the world celebrate St. Valentine's Day. It began
as a liturgical celebration but now the day is associated with
romantic love and people exchange cards, flowers, gifts... with their
special valentine.
Internet gathers and disseminates
educational resources about this celebration which may be helpful for
ESL or EFL teachers to motivate students. After all, love is a
universal theme.
