The Associated Press y British Movietone, ofrecen la posibilidad de explorar más de un millón de minutos de grabaciones históricas (en total más de 550.000 vídeos) en YouTube. 

Es posible consultar en forma de vídeo de corta duración muchos de los momentos históricos más relevantes desde finales del siglo XIX al día de hoy. Estos pueden servir como recursos educativos en bruto para desarrollar además del conocimiento de la historia, la comprensión en lengua inglesa. La diversidad de contextos y vocabulario hace todavía más atractiva esta impresionante oferta.

Guidelines for CLIL Implementation

CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) is the most common term used in the European setting to describe the approach to teaching a curriculum subject through a foreign language, with the dual focus of acquiring more subject knowledge and improving one’s skills and competences in the foreign language.

This edited volume brings together the experiences and knowledge gained through the PROCLIL programme about CLIL implementation in Primary and Pre-primary Education.

PROCLIL was co-funded by the European Commission (Comenius fund) and focused on the implementation of CLIL in Primary and Pre-primary education.

News in levels

News written for ESL students to help them learn and understand English naturally and fast.

A given news article is offered in three versions or levels based on their complexity. 

News in levels repeats the same words (difficult words are explained) in each level again and again. When students can understand all the words in one level, it is time for them to go one level higher and do the same. Students can practise their reading and listening skills (as they use video).

III Jornada de Plurilingüisme de la Comunitat Valenciana

Desde el Servici d'Ensenyament en Llengües nos comunican la organización de la III Jornada de Plurilingüisme de la Comunitat Valenciana, que tendrá lugar en el Salón de Actos de la Conselleria d'Educació, el próximo 9 de julio de 10 a 14 h.

Las inscripciones están abiertas desde el día 22 hasta el 5 de julio. Quienes solicitéis participar deberéis confirmar la asistencia.

El tema que se desarrollará en la jornada consiste en la evaluación de la competencia lingüística en inglés.

La jornada está dirigida al profesorado especialista de inglés de todas las etapas y se desarrollará en esta lengua.

This resource may be interesting for high school classrooms and adult ESL learners. 

Connect with English is a story to help them learn English. This soap opera tells the story of Rebecca Casey, a young woman who lives in Boston. She works in a factory and takes care of her father and brother. Rebecca has big dreams. She wants to go to college to study music. Will Rebecca's dream come true?

Connect with English was funded by Annenberg Media and produced by WGBH Boston. It premiered in 1998 and aired on PBS stations and The Annenberg Channel.

We are Storytellers

Internet nos da prueba todos los días de fantásticas iniciativas que tienen lugar en nuestras escuelas relacionadas con las más diversas materias. Son proyectos diseñados para aprender, donde el uso de herramientas TIC es un medio para la realización materiales útiles a la par que visualmente atractivos. Así mismo, nos permite al alumnado y el profesorado de centros ajenos a los que han emprendido estas auténticas aventuras, conocer prácticas que, salvando las distancias, admiten una adaptación a nuestras propias circunstancias y necesidades.

Un ejemplo de ellas, dirigidas a la lengua inglesa, la hemos encontrado en el Proyecto We are Storytellers, desarrollado en el tercer ciclo de la sección bilingüe de Educación Primaria desde el Colegio San Gregorio-La Compasión de Aguilar de Campoo.

English Speaking Cities

Nuestro compañero del CEFIRE de Xàtiva Leo Boix nos presenta en esta noticia en la página del CEDEC el primer REA del proyecto English Speaking Cities, orientado a ofrecer recursos educativos abiertos para trabajar a través de la metodología del aprendizaje por proyectos todos los objetivos, criterios y estándares de 3º de ESO.

La primera secuencia didáctica se dedica a Londres. A partir de ella, se irán recorriendo otras ciudades que tienen el inglés como lengua oficial.
