#PEPELT: Picturebooks in European Primary English Language Teaching

e-Sgoil resources

e-Sgoil (which stands for e-School in Gaelic) is a national e-learning service established in 2016 in the Western Isles of Scotland. Its focus is on live, interactive, online learning using technology to remove barriers and improve outcomes for young people.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Language Teaching: Challenges and Possibilities

Course offered by the European Commission. In this course participants (teachers from all school levels and subjects as well as other school staff) will:

- Learn the different types of AI available for Language Teachingand their possible uses

- Explore the challenges it poses and how to use it in our classrooms and lessons

- Develop an understanding on how AI works

- Delve into the specific areas in which AI is useful for Language Teaching today

- Learn how to design learning resources with the help of AI or considering the use of AI during the learning process

End date: Wednesday 11 October 2023

Duration: 2 weeks and 2 days

LGBTIQA+ Multilingual Terminology

Monolingual, bilingual and multilingual terminology to authentically represent the identities of LGBTIQA+ community members in English, Arabic, Chinese (simplified), Chinese (traditional), Korean, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese.

This repository is the result of an RMIT research project which was proudly sponsored by the City of Melbourne. Its aim is to develop multilingual LGBTIQA+ terminology resources which can be used by members of ethnic communities to facilitate self-expression and foster respect and inclusivity.

Wordtune is a writing assistant tool developed by AI21 Labs. Wordtune was designed to help users improve their writing by suggesting alternative words and phrases to enhance clarity, style, and tone. It can be used as a browser extension or integrated into various writing platforms and applications.

Wordtune worked by analyzing the context of the text you were writing and providing real-time suggestions for improving it. These suggestions include rephrasing sentences, changing word choices, and enhancing overall readability.

Academic Phrasebank

The Academic Phrasebank is a general resource for academic writers. It aims to provide you with examples of some of the phraseological ‘nuts and bolts’ of writing organised according to the main sections of a research paper or dissertation. The resource should be particularly useful for writers who need to report their research work.

The phrases in this resource have been taken from authentic academic sources. The original corpus from which the phrases were ‘harvested’ consisted of 100 postgraduate dissertations completed at the University of Manchester. The Academic Phrasebank largely draws on an approach to analysing academic texts originally pioneered by John Swales in the 1980s.

Language World Map is a website that allows you to check the places around the world where a specific language is spoken. 

On the homepage, there is a text box where you should enter the language you want to search for. Once entered, a world map will appear, with countries and territories where that language is spoken highlighted in green. By clicking on each country, relevant information such as the country's population, cost of living, other official languages, etc., will be displayed.
