Created by Julie Carton and Rita Rosenback, the aim of our guide is to help you create a welcoming atmosphere and a supportiven environment for bilingual and multilingual children in the classroom. 

This guide for educators is one of the outcomes of PEaCH, an Erasmus+ project funded by the European Commission. The acronym PEaCH was derived from the main goal of the project: ‘preserving and promoting Europe’s cultural and linguistic heritage through empowerment of bilingual children and families’.

Date and Weather Interactive Chart

This interactive date and weather chart is designed to be used as part of classroom routines. With this interactive tool students can practice saying the date, days of the week and month. Students can select and say what the weather is like as well as describe the temperature.

Science Friday is a producer of high quality, fact-checked, and trustworthy science news and educational programming.

OER The city of my dreams

This open educational resource is part of the proposal of the Junta de Andalucía to develop OER to support the attention to diversity in the core subjects of non-university education, among others, in the subject of first foreign language: English.

This project corresponds specifically to the primary school stage. However, you can find more resources corresponding to secondary or baccalaureate.

Vidtionary. Video dictionary

Vidtionary is a video dictionary for anyone ho is studying or teaching English. It offers a collection of short videos devoted to defining words by showing various example scenes illustrating a word’s meaning and presenting the text of the word itself in a visually meaningful way. 

Vidtionary is for anyone who is studying or teaching English.

The idea for Vidtionary was conceived in Seoul, South Korea in 2006, at which time the project’s creator Donald Anderson was there teaching English. Actual development on the project began in 2007, at the time Donald Anderson began his M.Ed. degree at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC, Canada. (Source: Vidtionary)

Storybooks Canada

Storybooks Canada is a free open educational resource that promotes literacy and language learning in homes, schools, and communities. 

You can read, download (text and audio) and listen to stories. You can also choose language (English, French, and the most widely spoken immigrant and refugee languages of Canada) and level (five levels).

It provides teachers with a guide to show how links can be made between the stories and Curricular Competencies by referencing universal themes and activities across grade levels and subject areas.

Unite for Literacy @Unite4Literacy

Unite for Literacy gives children access to books that celebrate their languages and different cultures and cultivate their love of reading.
